President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Liberal Party president and Telecommunications Secretary Manuel ‘Mar’ Roxas as the duly successor of the late Jesse Robredo as the new Department of Interior and Local Governement secretary. Bid for LRT 1 Extension in April

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is set to  bid in April the 12-kilometer extension of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 to Bacoor, Cavite worth P30-P35 billion. Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas said the contract will include the operation and maintenance of the entire length of the line from the existing line up to Cavite. Roxas  said that invitations to the bid will be sent out by the middle of April. The scope of the contract that will be bid out is the maintenance and operation of the existing LRT Line 1, with approximately 440,000 passengers per day, and they will also design and construct the  extension to Cavite. After they finish the extension, they will operate the entire extended rail line.
